The Environmental Issue

While it is fun to go deep sea fishing and enjoy the thrill of reeling in the catch, that is, if you are lucky to get the big one, there is always the environmental issue. Fishes are depleting fast in our seas. It is when you are deep sea fishing that you realised that the commercialization of deep sea fishing is fast depleting our fish resources. The ocean and sea is an ecosystem by itself.


Many other living forms depends on the fishes for survival. If the fishes are gone, the big ones go hungry. The birds go hungry and so does the penguin (as depicted in the Flat feet movie). The corals and a whole lot of eco systems in the sea bed will suffer if man do not do conservation.

As part of our efforts to protect the seas, we asked all fishermen to release young fishes and for protected species, that, these be released back to the ocean. We hope that you will impart this knowledge to your children and grandchildren and also to the representatives of your government. Everyone of us can do our share to conserve the seas and protect the fishes and its environment.

First step in starting your fishing adventure

If you want to have an adventure of fishing in Kuching, start by looking at the fishing charters here. Determine your number of days you want to spend on fishing in Kuching, number of days you want to spend on sightseeing, experiencing the mountain climbing or even scuba diving. For the month of April, 2008, the red space denoted fully booked while the green space are days available for booking. Even though the red spaced maybe booked, you can still enquired with Anglersfriend with Mr.John Jong to see if there is any available seats. One trip will carry a maximum of 8 persons on board.

Safety in fishing

Before we do anything, let us start with safety. First and foremost, we want every fishing trip to be safe for everyone.

Let us start with ourselves first. Make sure you have the proper attire for fishing, that is, proper warm clothing, boots that have grips, no sandals and gloves to withstand the reel. If you are prone to sea sick, make sure you have your medicine with you. Make sure you have your sun hat, your sunblock cream. If you are going to dive, prepare your diving gear, and check that they are functioning well.

Come early and be at the meeting place to hear the instructions from the captain.
Our captain will not go out to sea if the weather is bad.
On the safety of the boat, the ,motors are changed every three years with regular maintenance. Safety gear are a must for everyone to wear during the trip.
The boat is equipped with the best communication equipment to ensure total communication with the land centre at all times.
The boat is also equipped with beds, freezer for storing your catch and cooking facilities for cooking your catch on board.
